Who are you?
Your face is not known to me.
Your traits are not familiar.
Your voice I've never listened to.
I don't know who,
now who are you?
You look in the camera,
but you don't see
that I took that picture,
now how can that be?
I don't know you,
now who are you?
My face is not known to you.
You don't know how I used to sing.
You don't know me or anything.
You know me by rumour
as you dance in your ring.
Who are you?
Are you the mirror image
of who I could have been?
Are you the punishment
for the time I sinned?
Your face is not known to me.
Yet you make my life hell.
Hell has its heroes, that may be,
but I'll never live to tell.
I know this all too well. The poetry conveys things perfectly, fluently.
ReplyDeleteTo know what could have been if you hadn't done THIS or you hadn't done THAT or if you would've thought SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.
But remember Becca, if you didn't go through life as you did thus far you wouldn't be the person I admire, the person who I consider part of a family.
Also, this poem conveys the sense of having someone enter the outskirts of your life and turn it into hell, even though you might not even know that person. It's not if you know that person that counts, it's what that person does to your life, to the lives of people you know. Before you've even shaken their hands you make it a principle to hate them. It's a silly feeling but we all go through the process in such a situation. =) I just had to get it on paper.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Raven. Awww! That's so sweet. You're indeed part of my family as well and I'm so glad to have you back I can hardly describe. You're one of the few to really get me! <3
Seconded... we're formed by our mistakes and bad experiences as much as by our progress in life.
"Good judgment comes out of experience, experience comes out of bad judgment" =)
:D
ReplyDeletehmmm good poem you wrote something similar some time ago i love these lines:
ReplyDelete"You know me by rumour
as you dance in your ring
Are you the punishment
for the time I sinned?
Hell has its heroes"
i know exactly how this feels:
"You look in the camera,
but you don't see
that I took that picture,
now how can that be?"
Really? Which one does this one remind you of?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much <3
i dont remember the title, just it was about you looking at your self in the miror, writing as a 3rd person, and in the comments you said alev gave you the idia, its way back like 6 month or so maybe
ReplyDeleteOh yes, "is it possible she could be me", it went... hmm I don't remember the title either right now!
ReplyDeleteEmbarrassing. I will do some research asap. ^^
